John R. Corrigan

Biography

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my author page.

I'm John R. Corrigan and K.A. Delaney. I was born in Augusta, Maine, U.S.A., in 1970. Along with my wife and three daughters, I live at Northfield Mount Hermon School (Mass.), where I am English department chair, teach, coach hockey, (and may very well be the only mystery writer in America who is also a dorm parent to teenagers). I try to get to Old Orchard Beach, Maine, as often as possible.

After working as a newspaper reporter for two years, I studied under Rick DeMarinis while earning my master's of fine arts degree in creative writing from the University of Texas at El Paso. I've also been a columnist (for Golf Today Magazine), and now I write a weekly blog for Type M For Murder. But teaching is my full-time gig. (I try to get up at 4 or 5 a.m. most days to write fiction.)

I enjoy teaching and visiting schools to speak, give readings, or run writing workshops. You can reach me at the e-mail address below to schedule a school visit.

In 1979, prior to many discoveries in the field of learning disabilities, I was broadly diagnosed as "learning disabled, presumed dyslexic" -- a theme that resonates throughout my work. My publications include poetry, academic papers, feature articles, and more recently short stories (in the Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine), but writing novel-length fiction is where my heart is.

All my titles are available in hardcover, paperback, and a variety of electronic formats. Here's the lineup so far:
THIS ONE DAY (Dec. 2013, Five Star/Gale)
364 DAYS (AHMM, 2012)
SHOOTER (AHMM, 2011)
OUT OF BOUNDS (University Press of New England, 2006)
BAD LIE (UPNE, 2005)
CENTER CUT (UPNE, 2004)
SNAP HOOK (UPNE, 2004)
CUT SHOT (Sleeping Bear Press, 2001)

Writing as K.A. Delaney, I have sold a forthcoming novel called THIS ONE DAY to Five Star/Gale. Publication date is Dec. 2013. This book stars Max Tyger, a down-on-his-luck PI. If Jack Austin is my knight in shining armor, Max is his antithesis--and I'm having a ball writing him.

I'm also working on a series featuring a female border patrol agent as protagonist, based on my years living in Presque Isle, Maine, and El Paso--I've seen both borders and have don tons of research on the border patrol. I will you posted on that series.

No one enjoys talking about books--mine or others--more than I do! Feel free to reach out to me. I'd love to hear from you.
