What's the story behind your latest book?
When I read this quote from the Eisan family Bible-- "Michael Eisan married his third wife at the age of 101 and died of his excesses at the age of 103," I just knew I had to write his life story. And what a story it is! He was a Loyalist during the American Revolution. But how he managed to get there from the Palatine region of what is now Germany is a remarkable story in itself. I had a wonderful time researching this book and following in the footsteps of my other great-great-great-great-grandfather.
What are you working on next?
I'm writing a novella from the point of view of Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. It starts when she learns that her son has been beheaded, and continues until her death about three years later. It sounds like it might be a downer, but I assure you it's not. Elizabeth is a real person with a passion for justice. In the end she becomes not just a follower of Jesus, but a leader who learns to speak her own mind.
