Biography

Being an author was always a dream of mine, one that seemed far reaching and unattainable, and then one day I decided to shoot for the stars and I'm glad I did. I have discovered things about myself during this process and absolutely love what I do. I get to share my stories and pieces of myself with people across the world, and I couldn't be happier. When I'm not writing, you can find me singing, dancing, or yelling at one of my favorite sports teams on the TV. That is, when I'm not cooking, chasing after my toddler, or toting my two girls off to one sport or another.

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
Oddly enough, my first attempt at writing was my senior year of high school. We were reading about Lancelot and Guinevere and our teacher assigned all of us to write our own love stories. And since, at the time, I was obsessed with getting my hand on as many romance novels as possible, I jumped right in. As for how I got started writing what has now been published, it was honestly on a whim. After years of not reading, I bought an iPad and found the same passion for romance novels again, only this time story ideas of my own began poking at me. So one night I grabbed my laptop and started typing, and the rest, they say, is history.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
When I began reading again in 2012, I found myself being drawn into these stories that felt real, like the characters could have been my neighbor or my sister. And more often than not, those stories were written by indie authors. So after I started writing, I did a little research and noticed that most of the indie authors I liked were using Smashwords, which prompted me to do the same.

    I don't normally read science fiction books, but I was told to read this book. I was completely hooked the whole time and ended up buying all 4 of them.

    Wren is my kind of girl. Witty, strong, loves football and isn't some stick figure. She has curves and knows how to use them. Then there's Zack. Most women's fantasy, and yet deep down he's a true romantic. The chemistry between these two characters was obvious from the beginning, and it was great to follow them through the ups and downs that all new relationships go through, with a few demons to overcome. As a self-published author myself, I give credit to anyone that has the guts to write something and put it out there for the world to see, and Zoie Jenkins didn't disappoint. I truly enjoyed reading "Fenced Hearts" and can't wait for the second book.
