Interview with Jon Flushing
Published 2017-10-02.
Who are your favorite authors?
I'm a huge fan of Clive Cussler. I've read a ton of his books. I also enjoy Simon R. Green, George R.R. Martin, Jim Butcher, and Frank Herbert. I loved J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. I also read the Horus Heresy series from the Black Library.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Western Pennsylvania for the most part. There are a lot of old communities around with old creepy houses in them. There are also a lot of woods here. I used to hike and play in the woods when I was a kid. Add to it the fact that the skies here are often gray. All of this combined helps to stir the imagination about what lurks in these places.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The need to earn money to pay bills. It's a big motivator.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love to travel. I also love the Rolling Stones. I like to sing along to their records. I'm sure if any of them ever heard me, they'd be greatly offended.
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on a book of short stories along with my fellow authors in the the Writers 3. We are each going to have several stories which feature some of our favorite characters from books that we have written or are in the process of writing. It's been a blast to do this with B.C. and Len. This is something that we have talked about for a long time and I think that's cool that we're actually doing it.

Future Imperfect
by Cassidy Raine Wolters, Jon Flushing, Doug Ward, Mark Hospodar, Jr, Jerry Clark, B.C. Richards, Leonard Herrington, Scott Lee, & April Ward
Who says that the future is always bright? The prospect of better things yet to come is most certainly an attractive thought, one that propels scientific, creative, and social advancement. It is an endeavor that drives humanity forward. But the future is vague and difficult to predict. Not everything turns out the way it is expected. In fact, it is oftentimes not always for the better.
Tales From the Grimacing Goblin
by Cassidy Raine Wolters, Jon Flushing, Doug Ward, Mark Hospodar, Jr, Jerry Clark, B.C. Richards, Leonard Herrington, Scott Lee, & April Ward
The Grimacing Goblin Inn is not a place to enter lightly. Frequented mostly by lowly rogues and cutthroats, it is best to keep one hand on your weapon’s hilt and your back against a wall. The ale is cheap, which suits the Goblin’s clientele well as the patrons drink and swap yarns. Come in, sit back and eavesdrop on these stories told by the adventurers themselves, but keep an eye on your coin p
Dreams of Cerberus
by Jon Flushing, B.C. Richards, & Leonard Herrington
The dreams of Cerberus would have been nightmares. We believe nightmares only happen while we are asleep. The assumption is a faulty one. We share the world with witches and demons, killers and cannibals, and many other creatures that we don’t want to believe exist. Dreams of Cerberus is an anthology of ten short horror stories by authors Jon Flushing, B.C. Richards, and Leonard Herrington.
