Describe who you are in a poem
Who am I?
I’m a woman made up of many pieces,
each creating the unique me.
I’m gentle to everyone and everything alive.
I grow flowers, trees, love and friendships.
I’m a warrior conquering my fears,
an explorer putting a light on the dark side,
breaking through the roadblocks of life.
I have seen cruelty, abuse, poverty
and they all taught me how not to live.
I grow and gather herbs to heal
and make most gifts I give.
When I feel lost on the path of life,
I go to the beach and listen to the waves.
They soothe my heart and soul,
they heal my body from aches and pains
and I can walk again with a smile on my face.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I have been saving my poems electronically since 2000. A few years ago I realized that I have enough for a book and I self published in 2019. It has taken a long time to put them all together and hours after hours of formatting but it was worth it. I felt so accomplished when I hit the publish button. It was a relief, like giving birth to a child and I am convinced that to a writer putting their work out there is like releasing their child. It feels exhilarating and scary at the same time.
Most the time poems just pop into my head. I jokingly say that the Muse is talking to me. There was one night, I sat at the fire in my backyard and wrote 8 poems. I guess you can call that a creative night. Some people are channels for angels, dead people and all kinds of things. I am a channel for poetry.
