Biography

I write fantasy/romance stories and new age/spiritual/fantasy/romance poetry. I'm also addicted to reading and am an obsessive crafter. I dance in the clouds where my stories take shape and then I weave them into imaginative and loving tales. Dream above the clouds and believe in yourself. I do and I believe in you.

Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a lovely small town situated on the Northeast corner of Ohio, Ashtabula. Ashtabula sits next to the Great Lake Erie. Coming from a small town meant smaller classrooms and more attention from teachers. Early on, teachers pointed out my writing ability. My twin brother told me I started to write stories and poetry from the time I learned the alphabet and I first used a pencil.
The biggest influence on my writing was Robert Louis Stevenson's 'A Child's Garden of Verses.'
When did you first start writing?
I've written my entire life. I remember one time when I was in 6th grade that my teacher was so impressed with my little book, that she had me read it to the entire class.

  • Vampire Morsels: Short Story Collection on Jan. 29, 2013

Vampire Morsels is the perfect companion for Joleene Naylor's series, Amaranthine Nights. In Vampire Morsels she writes a fuller descripion about the vampire and his/her life than what there was in the book. She described how, where, and when a vampire was turned and did it so well that it came across as believable. I loved this book. It was a quick read and I found it so interesting. I also loved the illustrations because it helped me see the characters better.
  • 101 Tips for Traveling with a Vampire on Jan. 29, 2013

I loved the humor in this book. Each tip had me laughing. Joleene Naylor has written a fun short book that's a quick, easy read and leaves a smile on your face. Kudos to Joleene Naylor.
  • Children of Shadows on March 27, 2014

This book was such a fun read that I finished it in only a few days. All my favorite characters were present and got into their typical amounts of trouble under the leadership of Jorick. The beginning set the tone for the whole book when the vampires take a vacation on a beach. From there, the story just got better. By the end, I couldn't wait for the next book to be published. Joleene Naylor is an exceptional author who creates the most realistic characters and although her books are about vampires, the stories seem real too.
  • Among Bright Stars... on May 13, 2014

'Among Bright Stars' continues the Sci Fi series about Morningstars and Falcanians. I really enjoyed this read. It went into the war with aliens and then the attack during a peace treaty. Rodney melds his characters wisely in their interactions with each other and their importance in the story. It left me wondering what will happen as I anxiously await his next book.
  • The Egg of Orlin on Nov. 10, 2014

I can't believe the haunting beauty of these poems. Each drew me in immediately. Bonnie Mutchler's work is reminiscent of Edgar Allan Poe and written so skillfully. Truly a poetry book one should not be without.
  • Tales From the Mist on Nov. 10, 2014

I had read 'The Egg of Orlin' and wondered if this was as good. I certainly wasn't disappointed. Bonnie Mutchler has a certain way with poetry that draws the reader into the depths of the story. I only wish I could write poetry as well as she does. Definitely a must-have for poetry lovers.
  • From the Pit on Nov. 10, 2014

This was quite an interesting read. I enjoyed reading each poem from her point of view. This is yet another brilliant work by a true genius of the art of poetry. I have yet to be disappointed with any of her works.
  • Tales From the Trees on Nov. 10, 2014

Bonnie Mutchler's ability to write poetic fantasy leaves me quite envious. It seems all her works are brilliant and this one is no exception. Charming, delightful fantasies. Truly a must read.
  • Tales of the Shattered Crystal on Nov. 10, 2014

Another excellent poetry book by Bonnie Mutchler. I must admit that most of the poems in this collection gave me chills. Bonnie Mutchler is very good at horror and fantasy, and I'm glad I have had the chance to read so many of her works.
  • Clash of Legends on April 14, 2015

I have read all the books in this series, and this one is like the others - such a great read. I couldn't wait for Ms. Naylor to write this one, and I wasn't disappointed when I read it. I could not set this book down. The action, the love scenes, the humor, all my favorite vampires, and now Samael. This is one of the best reads I've had this year. All I can say is keep writing this series, please, author Joleene Naylor.
